The Protein and Nucleic Acid Chemistry Laboratories (PNACL) provide analytical and synthetic resources including:
Mass Spectrometry
Protein Technologies
DNA Technologies
The Protein Chemistry Laboratory at Washington University was established in 1982 and the Nucleic Acid Chemistry Laboratory was established soon after in 1984. Both are directed by Dr. Gregory A. Grant and are administered by the Department of Developmental Biology. The PNACL are multi-user shared instrumentation core laboratories that provide sophisticated analytical and synthetic research capabilities that would not otherwise be available to individual researchers.
The Protein Chemistry Laboratory offers automated Edman degradation Protein Sequencing using an Applied Biosystems Procise Sequencer.
The Nucleic Acid Chemistry Laboratory offers automated DNA sequencing using Applied Biosystems Models 3130 and 3730 DNA sequencers.
In addition to performing analytical and synthetic services, the Director and staff of the PNACL are available for consultation in experimental design, interpretation of data, and any other aspect in which they can be of assistance.
